Forward-looking and creative, cooperative Alma Cersius dates back 1937 with the founding of the first cooperative cellar in Cers, where the modern winery exists today. It is a collective of 152 passionate and committed winegrowers who pool their knowledge and expertise, working over 1,300 hectares of vineyards across Cers, Portiragnes, Puimisson and Villeneuve-lès-Béziers. The vineyards benefit from the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea which tempers the heat of the summer months on these alluvial soils made up of pebbles and clay.
Since 2020, every bottle is certified High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3, the highest level of environmental governance in France, encompassing the conservation of biodiversity, sustainable farming techniques, water management and use of renewable energy. The commitment from the winegrowers is a genuine one, “to preserve and value the earth so that next generations can also make a living from their passion”.
