CASTILLO LABASTIDA, A COOPERATIVE of 152 growers, combines traditional winemaking ways with the latest technology to produce its well-regarded Montebuena Rioja brand from its members’ 600 hectares. The winery was a pioneer among the region’s farmers in the application of Bordeaux-style aging techniques brought to Spain by Rioja-born Don Manuel Quintano back in 1787.
