We heard it through the grapevine…
SOME PEOPLE SAY he walks through vineyards in the dead of night and tells dirty jokes to the vines in his underwear.
Some say he sieves his wine through his socks while singing Rodgers & Hammerstein’s You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Some say he can beat a kangaroo in an arm wrestle.
All we know is that he’s called Johnny Q.
This is the flamboyant and enigmatic Johnny’s latest project, fronting up to a fancy Chateau in a, er, Caravan. We think it’s a tongue-in-cheek reference to his own itinerant methods of winemaking – prowling large swathes of South Australian vineyards for pockets of vinous gold – or maybe he just likes caravans. What we’re certain about is that we’ve another stone-cold beaut of a red for you.
Also known as Petite Sirah in the Americas, and with it’s very own fan club called “P.S. I Love You!”, this is Durif. Super ripe, generous and full-bodied, this wraps its arms around you with big, warm hugs of blackberry and black plum, chocolate and menthol, and a big scoop of raspberry ripple on the finish.
If you love the biodynamic Italians Coste di Moro or Bucefalo, or the Uruguayan Garzon Tannat, you will absolutely love this.
