Yesterday saw the official press shoot for this weekend’s 3rd Curious Christmas Wine Fair and the first in proud association with Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.
They say you should never work with children or animals, but ‘Kuta’ was a delightful exception to the rule. This one year old bitch is part of the Guide Dogs’ early training section and will eventually go on to provide life-changing assistance to the blind and visually impaired.
I also met John at the shoot, a family man and ex-decorator from Cork, who lost his sight 5 years ago in his early 40s due to a genetic condition. John’s Christmas present this year is his first guide dog from Irish Guide Dogs. Just chatting with him and feeling first hand his enthusiasm and excitement at the prospect of a new companion reinforced the incredible work this charity does. We are so proud to be associated with them.
The wine fair kicks off at 4.00pm this Friday, 2nd December, and runs for two days, wrapping up at 6.00pm on Saturday.
Tickets cost €10, payable at the door or by booking in advance online, with all proceeds going to Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. Anyone who attends with a Guide dog, Assistance dog or Companion dog will not be charged the entry fee. There is also no charge for volunteer puppy walkers who attend with their puppies in training.
