Roll up! Roll up! If there was one event that captured the imagination when we launched our autumn calendar of events and tastings a few weeks ago, it was the Curious Mystery Bus Tour. On Thursday 25th October, we'll be taking a bus load of Curious Wine Club members on a mystery bus tour to a secret location.
Continuing our autumn programme of events and tastings for the Curious Wine Club, Friday 21st September sees the first visit to Cork of Scott Collett of Woodstock McLaren Vale.
Hot on the heels of our Italian night in Cork on Friday, we've a treat for the good people of Kinsale. This Saturday, 1st September, we'll be hosting a wine and Prosecco tasting with Francesco Riccardi of Borgo Magredo. The venue is The Stolen Pizza on Lower O'Connell Street (formerly Jola's Restaurant).
This Friday we're delighted to welcome Francesco Riccardi of Borgo Magredo for the first of our autumn schedule of events and tastings, as part of the newly launched Curious Wine Club. Francesco will be presenting the Borgo Magredo range for sampling as part of an Italian night in the Bowery, Cork.
The term ‘wine club’ can mean different things to different people. From our perspective we wanted to create a club that was inclusive but not demanding and built on two of our core values: have fun and be curious.
In conjunction with Red Nose Wine, we’re delighted to announce our second top tier tasting of the autumn season and our first to be hosted at the magnificent new Grainstore at Ballymaloe, on Friday 21st October at 7. 00pm.
Thursday evening saw the return of Curious Wines to the Cork wine tasting scene.
We're delighted to announce our first tastings of the autumn season and give you the opportunity to taste an Australian icon. It's our great pleasure to welcome Emma Shaw of Australia's Langmeil Barossa Winery to host two portfolio tastings, in Cork and Dublin, on the 15th and 16th of September.
The great Sherry 'ambassador' was in town on Wednesday night. César Saldaña, one of the top experts on the increasingly fashionable Sherry, was at the very impressive Grain Store at Ballymaloe to preach his word to an eager Cork audience. We didn't just get a tasting, we got a masterclass.
By now, the more ambitious New Year! New You! projects may be losing their charm, in which case there'll be room in your diary for a gentle blend of education and socialising as Jack Barrett's informal and extremely useful wine appreciation course returns to Curious Wines at 7. 30pm on Tuesday 1st March.
If you're in Cork this Wednesday (December 1st) with a bit of free time, head down to the Cork School of Music on Union Quay.
After the huge success of our Clare Valley tasting this September, Wine Australia is coming back to Cork to host another delicious Australian wine tasting. During the summer they gave Blake Creedon, Wine Scribe for the Irish Examiner newspaper and blog master on blakecreedon. wordpress.
It’s coming into that time of the year again when everything goes a little giddy, and noisy, in the wine trade. Well, we’ve a series of hosted wine tastings between now and the Yule to help you see the wood for the Christmas tree when it comes to choosing your top seasonal tipples.
A number of you have asked us whether we hold wine appreciation evenings and the like. I'm delighted to report that the answer is, from now on, yes.
Saturday night was the last meeting of the Bandon wine club until September. Around twenty people (myself included) met up at 'Seats Cafe' in town, where we were all treated to homemade lasagne (it wasn't quite BBQ weather!), a fantastic array of wines and live music, courtesy of some very talented members.
Wine is for enjoyment first, and appreciation second, but it's also true that learning how to appreciate wine can make your wine experience more enjoyable. The following three factors are considered to be wine tasting essentials. Appearance:This could be the first sign that a wine is out-of-condition.
