New Zealand wine really only came to prominence in the 1980s with the breathtaking and game-changing aromatics of the Sauvignon Blancs of Marlborough. A lot has happened in 30 years though; try Cabernet and Syrah from Hawke’s Bay, Pinot Noir from Central Otago, or the growing array of other aromatic white varietals now being produced on both islands.
