Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a world-famous wine from France’s southern Rhone Valley. It was one of the country’s first wine appellations, dating from 1929. Although fully 13 varieties are permitted for use in (red) Châteauneuf, in practice most producers lean heavily on Grenache, with support from Syrah and Mourvedre.
