Brilliant golden colour with an alluring, ripe nose of banana, papaya, pineapple and mango, and a full-bodied palate of toasty French oak, tropical fruit, vanilla and butterscotch. Supple, satisfying mouthfeel - very luxurious and satiny.

Enjoy with milder cheeses, chicken korma or pan-seared scallops.

Santa Alicia's Reserva range is aged for six months in new and one-year-old French and American oak barrels. Maipo is a large, historical wine region surrounding Chile's capital, Santiago. It's quite warm and so tends to focus on red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon in particular; but fuller-bodied, wooded, white styles like this one are made too.

Tasting notes for Santa Alicia Reserva Chardonnay 2011

Med. gold, bright and clear.

Butterscotch with distinct tropical fruit notes (banana, pineapple).

Quite rounded, buttery, lots of oak spice combining with sweet tropical fruit. Surprisingly long on finish, more butterscotch and spice.

Quite oaky but nicely integrated and attractive tropical fruits provide balance.
