The Last Stand Chardonnay 2012

McLaren Vale, Australia

Buy Now:

An elegant, easy drinking white. This vibrant, peachy Chardonnay exhibits all the rich mouth-feel, weight and generosity of fruit expected whilst retaining acidity and offering more elegant melon and citrus characters. The oak adds a touch of weight and texture to the palate.

Enjoy with full-flavoured fish such as trout or halibut, or well-matched with chicken in a light creamy sauce.

The premium fruit for this Chardonnay is sourced from McLaren Vale. The grapes were picked earlier than usual for this area to ensure balance and acidity in the final wine. Fermentation was in temperature controlled stainless steel to retain the fresh fruit characteristics. Thirty percent of the wine had contact with oak to add texture and mouthfeel.

The Last Stand - "Acknowledging their debt to returning soldiers in World War I, the individual States within Australia implemented soldier settlement schemes, rewarding soldiers with gifts of land, marking the end of their military service".
