Volnay is a well-bred wine, gentle on the palate, with a light fruity bouquet and a vermilion colour. This is one of the most elegant wines of the Côte de Beaune.

Serve slightly below room temperature. This wine can be enjoyed with fine dishes, red and white meat and mild cheese.

The Volnay wines have always been the favourite wines of kings and popes, from Philip of Valois to Louis XIV, not to mention Pope Gregory XI. In 1477, after the death of Duke Charles the Bold, when King Louis XI had finally conquered Burgundy, he sent the entire harvest of Volnay to his castle in Plessis-les-Tours.

Situated between Pommard and Meursault, Volnay lies at the junction of the red wine producing villages and those producing the famous white wines. Volnay is well exposed to the rising sun from its position overlooking the Côte de Beaune.

The grapes for this wine were harvested by hand and after fermentation was aged for around 10 months in oak barrels before bottling.
