From vines grown on chalky soils in Côte Chalonnaise, Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, with vines ageing between 10 and 30 years old. After harvest, there is controlled maceration in stainless steel tanks for 10 days before part-ageing for around 9 months in oak barrels to ease the tannins and further round out the wine.
Burgundy is a province of eastern France famous for its classy whites made from Chardonnay and renowned reds made from Pinot Noir. 'Bourgogne Rouge' is one of the generic appellations for Burgundy red wine. Wines under this label are usually pure Pinot Noir, as is the case with Chartron et Trebuchet's Bourgogne Rouge.
