Thoroughly enjoyable Chianti with juicy red cherry fruit flavours, supple tannins & food-friendly acidity.
Grape Varieties: Canaiolo Sangiovese
Style: Rustic, fruity
Drink By: 2014
This is a very traditional style of Chianti. Full of red cherry flavours and violets, with vibrant acidity, hints of sweet spices and a beautiful long, silky finish. Enjoy with most Italian dishes. Will go well with roasts, including roast chicken, and braised meats.
Harvest is in the middle of September. After picking, crushing and fermentation, the wine is kept on its lees (grape skins and dead yeast cells) for between one and two months. Bottling is twelve months after harvest and after a further two months the wine goes to market.
In 1927, Alberto Bartali and his wife Leda Pucci founded their estate in the heart of the Chianti zone, on the slopes of the hill on which stands the town of Monteriggioni. Under the management of their son Rivo, the estate took on a more important role in the wine market, extending know-how and commitment to high quality production. The passion and love for the Tuscan land were passed down from Rivo to his children Alberto, Wanda and Maria, and Wanda’s husband Marco, whose joint efforts consolidated and developed the estate. Today, the family tradition continues with their children Filippo, Linda and Andrea.
