Rioja, Spain

Sweet-oak bouquet freshened by complementary notes of mint-flecked blackberry, balsamic jus, cinnamon and light caramel. The full-bodied palate has great structure, with round tannins and well-judged acidity supporting the lush flavours. Wow!

Enjoy on its own, with a cheese board or even some very dark chocolate.

The bottle design is inspired by an original eighteenth-century bottle that is on show at the Vivanco Museum of the Culture of Wine. The featured artist, Juan Gris, was a famous painter-sculptor from Madrid, who was closely associated with the innovative artistic genre Cubism.

Rioja Alto-grown Vivanco is made from a blend of Rioja king Tempranillo and antique variety Graciano, matured for 24 months in new and second-fill French and American oak barrels. After bottling, the young wine is cellared in the bodega for a further 24 months prior to release.
Rioja Reservas are selected wines aged for longer than common-garden Rioja Crianzas. Sitting at a level where Riojas start to get "serious," they are qualitatively sandwiched between Crianza and little-seen Gran Reserva.
