Deep yellow colour with generous aromas of lush pear, melon and lychee. The rich, honeyed palate is full of character, with juicy, satisfying flavours of baked apple and guava, with hints of sweet spice.  Touch of sweetness on the long finish.

Good food matches for richer styles of Pinot Gris, like this, include pâté, pork in a creamy sauce or mushroom risotto.

This delicious white comes solely from hand-harvested Pinot Gris (Grigio) grapes grown in the pretty NE French region of Alsace. With a few grams of residual sugar per litre, it is made in an off-dry style (18 grams of residual sugar per litre), with just the merest hint of sweetness apparent on the clean finish. Cave d'Orschwiller is located in the southern part of the Bas-Rhin subregion.

Alsace is a mostly-white wine (90%) region, whose trademarks include: varying sweetness levels, oak-free winemaking, varietal labelling and tall, slender 'flute' bottles (which must be used by law). Alsace is one of France's easier appellations to understand, as the vast majority of bottles fall conveniently into the broad AC Alsace category. Pinot Gris makes up 15% of production in the appellation.
