Spy Valley Riesling 2014

Marlborough, New Zealand

Buy Now:

Modern, fruity, dry Riesling with a classically-intense, vibrant palate of apple strudel, lime and tingly minerals. Voluptuous, complex and fine, with a dry, clean finish.

Amazing with Thai beef salad or ham and gruyère French toast sandwich.

Made from 100% Riesling grown on grape-friendly soils, shallow and stony, with some loam and clay. Fermentation is in stainless steel and old oak - new wood is never really used for Riesling.

Bryan and Jan Johnson established Spy Valley in the world-famous Marlborough region in the 1990s, on 320 acres of land deemed too tough, arid and barren for winegrowing. In fact, this is the perfect setting for premium wine production (if the land is too good, vines just sprout lots of lush leaves and unripe berries), and the Johnson's pioneering spirit established one of New Zealand’s most successful boutique wineries, exporting today eight varieties to 35 countries.
