Poggiobello Ribolla Gialla Colli Orientali 2014

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Buy Now:

Faded straw colour with olive tints. The fruity aromas are delicate and pretty while the firm palate surprises with its weight and concentration. Sappy flavours of peach, lemon and salty minerals are evident, and the finish is dry and stimulating.

Chic aperitif or partner for squid, samphire and pea salad.

Made from Ribolla Gialla grown at 160-170 metres on marl soils. The grapes are de-stemmed and gently pressed before a cool ferment in steel tank. The new wine is nourished on its fine lees for 4 months prior to bottling, imparting creamy weight to the juice.

Ribolla is a grape most associated with the NE Italian province of Friuli, where it performs best in DOC Colli Orientali (the eastern hills). Generally unblended and still, Ribolla is occasionally made into sparkling wine, too. The Colli Orientali region is the product of aeons of alpine tectonics that have resulted in a mosaic, stratified, mineral-rich terroir that is perfect for the production of world-class whites.

Wine Spectator

"Tangy white with... lively notes of apricot, chive blossom, ground ginger and citrus. Mouthwatering finish."
