Poggiobello Pinot Noir 2014

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy

Buy Now:

Unique, mouthwatering red with a fine, red-fruited perfume, medium body and crisp, tart flavours of juicy cranberry, raspberry and pickle. Super-fresh and fruity, with a lively, palate-cleansing finish.
Try with tuna au poivre and wilted pak choi.
The grapes for this unoaked red wine are cultivated on Eocene marl slopes, 180m above sea level, in the evocatively-named DOC (defined wine appellation) of Friuli Colli Orientali, or Friuli's Eastern Hills. This region is the product of aeons of alpine tectonics that have resulted in a mosaic, stratified, mineral-rich terroir that is perfect for the production of world-class wines.
Pinot Noir - known in Italy as Pinot Nero - is the great red grape of Burgundy that gives subtly-complex and perfumed wines that are much-prized by wine lovers across the globe. Little Pinot is grown in warm Italy outside of the northern Alpine region, as the variety invariably shows best in cooler spots.
