Straw colour with briny scents of the sea rounded out by fruity lemon curd, almond, toasted bread and yeast characters. Wonderful precision, purity and finesse - utterly delicious!
Served chilled, Manzanilla is the perfect match for little bites of salty foods like fried anything, shellfish and oysters, cured meats, olives, almonds, cheese and sushi. It's great too as an afternoon beach drink, at a picnic or while prepping dinner.
Orleans Borbón is made from 100% Palomino, from old vines planted way back in 1973. To enhance its freshness, there are 2 bottlings per year, when the "flor" (protective yeast film) is at its peak growth: late spring and autumn.
While exploring Andalucía in 1849, Don Antonio de Orleans, Duke of Montpensier and son of King Louis Philippe of France, fell in love with the magical fishing village of Sanlucar de Barrameda, and planted his roots there. Among other ventures, Antonio began cultivating vineyards and slowly building the foundation for the family tradition that would become Sherry. A century-and-a-half later, his business continues as Bodegas Los Infantes de Orleans Borbón. Housed in a 14th century, Moors-influenced palace, this stately bodega cellars some of the finest sherry soleras in the region. Today, it is owned by the Spanish Royal Family!
Located on the left bank of the Guadalquivir estuary, Sanlucar de Barrameda, where Manzanilla is born, is the northernmost point of the famous 'Sherry Triangle.' The town's muggy, maritime air creates an ideal environment for the development and year-round maintenance of flor yeasts – the secret behind Manzanilla's unique taste.
