Monte Raso Reserva Tinto 2014

Douro, Portugal

Buy Now:

Strapping, oak-aged Douro Reserva, big in structure and flavour.
Monte Raso is a blend of native Douro grapes Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca, plus Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo), judiciously aged in a mixture of steel and oak barrels to give added weight and dimension without over-powering the wine in oak. Gorgeous blackberries, dates and black cherries dominate the palate, with lingering spicy notes of black pepper and juniper on the long finish.
Serve with a juicy steak and decant for best results. This wine will continue to develop through 5 or 6 years from vintage.
The Leite family settled in Poiares Seara, in Portugal's now renowned Douro wine and Port region, in the late 18th century, immediately planting vineyards, olive groves and almond trees, some of which survive to this day. Quinta Seara d'Ordens was derived from the military commander son, who based himself at the estate (quinta) and gave orders (ordens) to the soldiers under his command.
Over two hundred years later the estate remains in the Leite family, with João Leite Moreira the latest custodian overseeing production of high quality DOC Douro wines and continuing a long tradition of producing outstanding Ports.
