'Umbrella' Tempranillo 2015

Cariñena, Spain

'Umbrella' is our nickname for Marques de Puerta Vella.

Vivid dark purple, with perky flavours of fresh dark fruit - damson, blackberry, red apple skin - that intermingle with spicy hints of clove and tea. Featherweight tannins and bright acidity add to the impression of lightness and charm. Lovely!

Delicious on its own or with tapas or party bites.

This wine is made from 100% Tempranillo, Spain's most planted red variety and the grape behind such illustrious wines as Rioja and Ribera del Duero. There is no oak, and the wine is made in a fruity, easy drinking style.

Cariñena is a DO/appellation (wine region) in Aragon, northern Spain. Most of its vineyards are located at fairly high altitude - 400–800m - and are scattered along the plains of the River Ebro. The climate is continental, with big temperature swings that help the grapes preserve freshness and aroma, and a brisk northerly wind – the Cierzo – that helps keep the vines perky, productive and super healthy.
