Loire, France

Stimulating, herbaceous white showing clean green fruits, tangy lemon, elderflower, mown grass and lovage flavours. Supreme refreshment!

Try with parsley gnocchi with goat's curd and hazelnuts or - if that's too hard - aromatic brined chicken with charred lemon and rosemary.

Eighteen-hectare Les Lunelus is located on the slopes of the Cher river, a tributary of the Loire. Proprietor Pierre Angier comes from a family that has been making wines since 1900.

Touraine is a French wine region that specialises in good-value, modern Sauvignon Blancs, although red and rosé is produced too. Its terroir is tuffeau, a soft, porous chalk from which many cellars are hewn. Touraine offers a similar drinking experience to sister Loire appellations Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé - but at a tastier price!

Sauvignon's classic flavours come from a group of aromatic compounds called pyrazines
