Dry and distinctive Provence-style Rhône Rosé from a blend of red grapes Grenache and Cinsault. The pale colour is indicative of the palate, crisp, light and refreshing but with a lovely fruit intensity, displaying sweet red berries and delicate floral aromas like rosehip.
Chosen from a selection of Grenache and Cinsault plots in the southern Rhône valley, the grapes are pressed with minimal skin contact to ensure a pale salmon colour is extracted and nothing more. From there, the lightly tinted juice is vinified like a white wine, cool fermented to preserve the fresh, crisp character desired. The wine is bottled before spring and preferably enjoyed during the long, hot summer to follow (we're eternal optimists at Curious!).
Serve well chilled as an aperitif, or paired with salmon mousse, salade niçoise or tapas.
In 1964, the Lavau family founded a company that produced wine from bought-in grapes and then sold it on in the bulk wine market. In 2000, Frederic and brother Benoit Lavau took control and the boys totally changed the direction of the business, deciding to start bottling their wine under the Lavau label. In a complementary move, they partnered the business with Château Maucoil, a 40-hectare farm in nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
