Lavau Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2016

Rhône, France

Buy Now:

Fleshy, unctuous style that's very typical of the southern Rhône. Full and fruity, with a soft, yielding texture and loads of gorgeous pearapricot and lemon flavours, and hints of almond blossom and anise on the dry finish. Beautiful!
Lovely with brie, seared tuna or avocado and smoked salmon.
The grapes (Viognier, Roussane, Clairette, Grenache Blanc - depending on vintage) are crushed and then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tank - perfect for cool, fresh, aromatic whites. Only one-in-fifty Côtes du Rhône bottles is white!
In 1964, the Lavau family founded a company that produced wine from bought-in grapes and then sold it on in the bulk wine market. In 2000, Frederic and brother Benoit Lavau took control and the boys totally changed the direction of the business, deciding to start bottling their wine under the Lavau label. In a complementary move, they partnered the business with Château Maucoil, a 40-hectare farm in nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
