Christian Auricht was a Prussian migrant persecuted in his homeland for his religious beliefs. It was the promise of freedom which encouraged him to make his long journey to the Barossa. He arrived in 1839 and soon settled on the site which is now Langmeil Winery. Here he started his new life.
