The first wine ever actually bottled on the Landksroon Estate was a Cinsault, back in 1974. This lightly-oaked Shiraz blend is medium-bodied with a delightful balance of sweet red fruits and more savoury, smokey characters, making it the perfect complement to a summer barbecue or smokey meats and cheeses.

Winemaking at Landksroon dates back to the 17th century when French Huguenot settlers came to the Cape to develop the fledgling wine industry started in 1655 by the first commander of the new colony, Jan van Riebeeck. Among the newcomers was Jacques de Villiers, a winemaker from Niort in France. In 1874 his great-grandson Paul bought a portion of the original Landskroon farm, which today comprises more than 200 hectares of vineyards.
Four members of the de Villiers family remain involved in the business and current cellar master Paul de Villiers is a member of the ninth generation carrying on the proud family tradition in winemaking. Paul’s wines have won numerous awards including Diners Club Winemaker of the Year in 2000.
