Glorious stuff - fragrant and alluring, with classy, ripe, slightly spicy aromas and a palate that is rich, supple and loaded with exotic flavours of sweet blackcurrant, liquorice and pencil shavings. Great colour, weight and refinement. Super!
Aerate for 2 or so hours and enjoy with butterflied leg of lamb in a spicy yoghurt marinade.
Margaux is a prestigious DOP (appellation) 25km north of Bordeaux city. La Réserve d'Angludet (formely 'Moulin d'Angludet') is the 'second wine' of Château d'Angludet, made from the fruit of the estate's younger Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines.
Owned and run by the Sichel family, Angludet has a brilliant terroir in the 'left bank' Bordeaux commune of Margaux, overlooking the lower-lying land of the Gironde. The estate's official classification is ‘Cru Bourgeois Supérieur’, although the quality is generally held to be of 'Cru Classé' standard.
Alcohol: 13%
Style: Rich, complex, structured
Closure: Cork
Drink by: 2021

"Benjamin Sichel, who runs Château d'Angludet for his family, practises the most careful viticulture to make violet-scented, silky Margaux year after year."
