This is arguably our finest New Zealand Sauvignon, fruity and flinty, with its best yet to unfold.

Grape Varieties: Sauvignon Blanc

Type: White

Country: New Zealand

Alcohol: 13%

Style: Aromatic

Size: 750ml

Drink By: 2012

This superb Sauvignon Blanc has notably fragrant aromas of ripe lemon-honey citrus, fresh herbs and citrus blossom. It is delicate and elegant with a flinty edge.

The palate is mouth filling rather than explosive, with a supple, almost creamy texture. Natural fruit sweetness runs from start to finish, with white peach, melon and ripe citrus flavours backed by gentle spice.

Greenhough (green-hoff) is a family owned vineyard and winery established in 1991. Located at Hope, near Nelson at the top of the South Island, the vines are planted in free-draining, clay rich soils beneath the foothills of the Richmond Ranges.

Fruit was harvested from the Avery and Marshall Vineyards in Hope.

Tasting notes for Greenhough Sauvignon Blanc 2009

Bright, lemon-straw.

Clean, prominent tropical fruit, hints of gooseberry, nettle.

Lovely crisp acidity, dry, but sweet fruit forward along with herbaceous - green apple, banana, grassy, sweet gooseberries.

Lovely and tangy, great balance, my favourite NZ Sauvi.

Mike, May 2010 (2009 vintage)
