The third Gewürztraminer release for Greenhough, this wine has heady aromas of oriental spices, fresh florals and citrus zest. The palate has an oily mouthfeel with citrus, rosewater and tropical pineapple fruits with savoury, toasted nut and spice on the long finish.

Greenhough (green-hoff) is a family owned vineyard and winery established in 1991. Located at Hope, near Nelson at the top of the South Island, the vines are planted in free-draining, clay rich soils beneath the foothills of the Richmond Ranges.

Tasting notes for Greenhough Gewurztraminer 2008

Nose: Fairly prominent, clean, tropical fruit, hint of smoke.

Palate: Passion fruit, hints of banana, stone fruit (apricot) and bursting with pear. Tingling sensation on tongue, with lovely acidity cutting perfectly through the sweet fruit. Good, persistent finish with a lick of minerality.

Overall: The lively flavours are accentuated with food. Gorgeous.
