Unblended Tempranillo from forty year-old vines high in the Castillan plateau. Full bodied and smooth, with plenty of blackberry and kirsch flavours leavened by coconut, vanilla and coffee notes from six months' maturation in mostly American oak. 

Drink with leg of lamb in an anchovy and rosemary crust or blue cheese burgers. 

Muñoz farms 400 ha of gnarled old vines, with an average age of 40 years and its winemaking facilities include 1,500 ageing barrels and a state-of-the-art bottling line that ensures clean, fruity wines. Today, the third generation of the family lives on the estate, above the 17th-century cellar where the best of Muñoz wines enjoy a “calm, transcendental” period of maturation.

Tempranillo is Spain's most important quality red grape. Versatile, it is capable of making both inexpensive, simple reds meant for early consumption and profound offerings that can last for decades. Though common as a varietal wine, it is often blended with Garnacha, Mazuleo (i.e. Carignan) and (in Rioja) Graciano. Synonyms include Tinto Fino (Ribera del Duero), Ull de Llebre (Catalonia), Cencibel (La Mancha) and Tinta Roriz (Portugal).
