Vibrant coral colour with soft, pulpy flavours of sweet strawberry, hibiscus and rhubarb jam. Yum!
Delicious ice-cold on its own or with fruit desserts, melon and ham or Asian food.
Rosé d'Anjou is an appellation for pink wines from the Anjou part of the western Loire. The typical style is fruity and lightly sweet, made mostly from local grape Grolleau. Rosé d'Anjou can also be sold as "nouveau," à la Beaujolais.
Rosé wine is made from red grapes but after crushing the juice stays in contact with the skin (where all the colour pigments reside) for just 1-2 days, versus 2-3 weeks for red wine production. This shorter maceration period results in a lighter, pink wine. In Europe it's illegal to make pink wine by blending red and white juice, except (incongruously) in Champagne. Rosé has been booming for the past decade.
