Soft and off-dry with juicy hints of candied raspberry, rose petal and cherry pie. Perfect balance between fructose and freshness.

One to glug on its own if ever there was one!

Rosé d'Anjou is an AOP/appellation for pink wines from the Anjou part of the western Loire. The style, as here, is fruity and lightly sweet, made mostly from local grape Grolleau, a variety that's allowed in hardly any other regions. Rosé d'Anjou can also be sold as "nouveau," à la Beaujolais.

Rosé wine is made from red grapes but after crushing the juice stays in contact with the skin (where all the colour pigments reside) for just 1-2 days, versus 2-3 weeks for red wine production. This shorter maceration period results in a lighter, pink wine. In Europe it's illegal to make pink wine by blending red and white juice, except (oddly) in Champagne. The rosé category has been booming for the past decade.
