Duval Leroy ORGANIC Champagne

Champagne, France

Buy Now:

A rich, golden sparkler with delicate citrus and brioche aromas and a pillowy wash that shows indulgent notes of lemon, gingerbread and baked apple. Exquisitely balanced, with a dry, tingly finish. Brilliant effort!

Gorgeous on its own and partners well too with oysters, smoked salmon, sushi and fish 'n' chips.

Certified organic wines are rare as, even where producers choose to farm organically, they often don't wish to go to the trouble and expense of seeking certification. They may also want to keep their options open in the event of a bad growing season, where non-organic treatments in the vineyard might be needed to save the crop. This Champagne is certified organic

Founded in 1859, Duval-Leroy is today run by Belgian Carol Duval-Leroy, who took control of the estate after her husband Jean Charles died suddenly in 1991. As well as presiding over a long period of growth and success, she has also left her mark on the wider champagne world, becoming in 2007 the first woman ever to be nominated chairman of the AVC, Champagne's winemakers' association. Carol's four sons work alongside her.
