Rich and generous Cabernet from the oldest winegrowing region of Mendoza. Ripe blackcurrant and blackberry bound from the glass, with classic Cab aromas of fresh pencil shavings and spearmint. The wine is lush and rounded on the palate, with supple tannin and a rich lingering finish.
Fruit for the Don Genaro range is grown in the ‘Primera Zona’ of Mendoza, an area just south of Mendoza city, which is covers the areas of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú. The Primera Zona (premium winemaking zone) is where some of the oldest vines in Argentina can be found, and the altitude ranges from 700 to just over 1000 metres above sea level. Altitude in Argentina plays a major part in growing high quality fruit for winemaking, as the closer to the sun the vines are growing, the thicker the skins develop on the berries (where the flavour, pigment, and structure come from).
Don Genaro comes from the historic Bodega los Toneles in Mendoza. Now considered an urban winery thanks to its proximity to the city centre - just three minutes! The recently restored 1922 winery building was declared a cultural heritage site in 2008.
