Loire, France

Vibrantly aromatic, with cool notes of elderflower, lemon juice and fresh grapefruit. The dry, minerally palate is intensely flavoured with gorgeous green apple and melon characters. Supremely balanced and fine - just so lovely!
Super with shellfish, chicken or vegetarian cuisine.
Domaine Girault is situated in Bué, in the heart of the Sancerre region. The estate, which has been in the family for eight generations, grows three-quarters Sauvignon Blanc and one-quarter Pinot Noir (you can have pink or red Sancerre!).
Sancerre, a small but high-profile wine appellation in central France, is world-famous for its crisp, aromatic whites made from Sauvignon Blanc. It is known also for its high-end goat cheeses, which pair excellently with the local wines. Sancerre used to be a red-wine region over a hundred years ago but today less than 20% of output is red (or rosé), made from Pinot Noir.
The region is located at the eastern extreme of the Loire valley, hundreds of miles from the area's westernmost vineyards around Nantes on the Atlantic coast. It is in fact closer to Chablis (with which it shares vine-friendly Kimmeridgian soils) and Burgundy than to the Loire's other key wine districts, Anjou and Touraine.
