Conde Villar Alvarinho 2016

Minho, Portugal

Buy Now:

Crisp, mouthwatering Minho, with cool scents of pineapple, hay and white peach, and a firm, zesty palate that marries tangy citrus fruits with hints of stony minerals. Finishes with a slight, tingly spritz - a trademark of the region.

Try with a squid, samphire and pea salad - amazing!

Producer Quinta das Arcas makes wines in and around Vinho Verde, in northern Portugal. The company was founded in 1985 by Antonio Manteiro and is still run by his family over thirty years later. The grapes for their juicy Albariño are hand-picked and fermented at very low temperatures to capture the beautiful tropical nuances of the fruit. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Albariño is a hugely-popular, early-drinking, crisp variety that is native to north-western Iberia, especially Galicia in Spain and Minho in Portugal. An amazing match for the bounteous seafood of the region, the variety is known as Alvarinho in Portugal, where it is often (though decreasingly) bottled with a squirt of Carbon Dioxide, for added pep.
