Circa 1788 Shiraz-Viognier 2015

South Eastern Australia, Australia

A deep magenta-coloured red, displaying appealing flavours of raspberry compote, ganache and violets, leavened with flashes of coffee and sweet spice. Quite full in body, with a lush, viscous texture, sweet tannins and a rich, moreish finish. Lovely!

Good to drink on its own or try with sticky jerk wings with sugared oranges.

This juicy, ripe red is made mostly from Shiraz grapes but with a small proportion (5%) of the white Viognier blended in too. The two varieties are co-fermented so as to fix in a good, deep colour and to provide an improved mouthfeel and extended spectrum of flavours. Once fermentation was completed the young wine matured for 9 months in inert vessels which included American oak staves, the latter adding exotic spice notes to the lush fruit.

Alcohol: 14%
Style: Ripe, rich, fruity
Closure: Screwtop
