Bright gold, with a sweet nose of tropical and candied citrus fruit. Creamy and rich wash, full of indulgent flavour, with plenty of tangerine, pineapple and peach notes, freshened up by a lovely lemony lift on the finish.

Pair with paté, blue cheese, sweet Asian dishes or desserts. Alternatively enjoy on its own at the end of a good meal - or even before the food as a daring aperitif!

Sauternes, 65km south of Bordeaux city, is a region famous for its illustrious sweet wine of the same name. Made mostly from Sémillon (80% of vineyard area), the key factor in the style is the kindly fungus Botrytis cinera, which shrivels the berries, concentrates sugars and flavours, and introduces complex new flavours. Sauternes is expensive to make due to the risk of having to leave fruit on the vine well into autumn, the need for highly-skilled pickers and the necessity for multiple harvests.
