Winemaker Gavin Quinney: "We harvest blocks of Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) at night and press the grapes straight away for a lighter, Provençal style of rosé. Bone dry and fruity, it’s a sort of St-Tropez meets Bordeaux. Listed at Ramsay’s, Stein’s and Hotel du Vin, our pale rosé is a summer quaffer but great with spicy food, like Thai green curries - even when the sun isn't shining. The new vintage has just been taken on by Rick Stein for all his Cornish eateries."

Recommended by Fiona Beckett, The Guardian, July 2012: "The other day I had Château Bauduc's lovely Bordeaux Rosé 2011, which goes against the region's general trend of picking grapes (merlot and cabernet) early to keep the style fresh, dry and modest in alcohol (12% abv). This one's great with radishes and also, apparently, a good match for Thai green curry. Make sure to order the 2011."

Recommended by John Wilson, Irish Times, June 2012: "Several tasters loved the colour of this wine; some also liked the medium-bodied redcurrant fruits and crisp acidity. A dry rose that would go down well with a summer lunch, or possibly with Thai food too."

James Lawther MW, Contributing Editor of Decanter magazine: "Very pale pink. Fresh, red fruit aromas - raspberry and redcurrant nuance. Clean and dry on the palate but with an underlying ripeness of fruit. The freshness is what appeals. Delicious."

Gordon Ramsay, The Times Magazine, 2003: "My sommelier Ronan Sayburn suggests buffet party drinks should be light and quaffable, especially if you are a genial host. But you need to choose fresh, crisp wines that will cope with a wide variety of foods... You could plump for Rosés, although good ones are not easy to find. Look for good Bordeaux rosés... Ronan's choice is made by English couple Gavin and Angela Quinney at Chateau Bauduc."

Rick Stein: "A word of warning about this pale, dry and fruity rosé - it's very gluggable. Another winner from Gavin and Angela Quinney at Château Bauduc."

Tasting notes for Château Bauduc Bordeaux Rosé 2011

Coppery pink in colour, quite pale.

Delicate notes of pear, musk and rose petals.

Gentle acidity, lean fruit, again more neutral fruits like pear and water melon, zingy pepper running through to extended, mouthwatering finish.

Bone-dry and savoury, quite a serious rosé.
