Enjoy as an aperitif or pair with shellfish, caviar or white truffles risotto.

Cremant d'Alsace is Alsace's appellation for sparkling wines.  15%-20% of the region's annual production, about 21m bottles, is Cremant; in France only Champagne makes more. As with all Cremant, the 'traditional method' (i.e. the same as in Champagne) is used, the important point being that the bubbles-creating secondary fermentation happens in bottle, and not in tank (as with Prosecco et al). Most Alsatian Cremant is a blend of grapes; those that aren't must state the variety on the label. Cave d'Orschwiller makes this Cremant only in exceptional years.

Alsace is a mostly-white region whose trademarks include: varying sweetness levels (though not in its sparkling wines, which tend to be brut / dry), oak-free winemaking, varietal labeling and (for still wines) Germanic-looking 'flute' bottles. One of France's easier appellations to understand, the vast majority of Alsace's wines fall into the AC Alsace category.
