Castelo de Medina 'Syté' 2014

Castilla, Spain

A big, powerful red that pulls no punches with its upfront aromas, awesome density and long, concentrated flavours of mulberry, menthol and melted liquorice. A beautiful wine!

Decant for two hours and savour with milk-fed lamb or roasted beef rib - to die for!

Syté (pronounced see-tay) is a stunning blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Tempranillo (Spain's most-planted grape) that's aged for 14 months in new French and American oak barrels. As an avant-garde cuvée it is excluded from the normal DO/appellation system and so goes under the IGP Castilla y León name.

Castelo de Medina was founded by three wine lovers in 1996 in a small Valladolid town called Villaverde de Medina.

Alcohol: 14.5%
Style: Powerful, rich, smooth
Closure: Cork
Drink by: 2025

"I first had this in a restaurant in Villaverde de Medina, the small town the winery's located in, with milk-fed lamb, and I swear to God I heard angels sing!"
