Rueda, Spain

A gorgeous gold colour, Selección ripples with juicy stone fruit, fennel and ginger notes. Lively and vibrant, with a broad, fleshy palate that is full of tropical fruit and patisserie flavours. Fine and elegant, with a dry, moreish finish.

Enjoy with saffron chicken paella, prawn tikka masala or buttered lobster.

A wine that's brand new not just to Curious Wines but also to producer, Castelo de Medina. Only just available to market, Selección, which was matured for two months in classy French oak, represents a genuinely unique, must-try take on Rueda.

Rueda is a highly-regarded DO in Castille y León that is known for its consumer-friendly, unoaked, zesty, youthful whites. Verdejo is the region's flagship variety, although Viura (Macabeo) and Sauvignon Blanc make an appearance too. This arid, continental region, divided by the River Duero, lies 750m above sea level, ensuring wines with lifted aromatics and clean acidity. A small proportion of Rueda is red, made mostly from Tempranillo.
