Castelo de Medina Fermantado Barrica 2014

Rueda, Spain

Buy Now:

Pale saffron with lime reflections and a buttery body awash with indulgent flavours of creamy nuts, honey, hay, fennel and peach. Long, complex and very fine.
Pair with grilled squid or salt cod croquettes.
This wine is a blend of 90% Verdejo and 10% Sauvignon Blanc from the premium, popular northern Spanish white wine region of Rueda. Most Rueda is steel fermented but this is oaked - six months altogether in new French barriques. Wooded whites, this included, are fuller, milkier and more complex than their unoaked peers. The style is not dissimilar to that of a fine white Bordeaux/Graves.
Castelo de Medina was founded by three wine lovers in 1996 in a small Valladolid town called Villaverde de Medina.
Alcohol: 13%
Style: Full, complex, toasty
Closure: Cork
Drink by: 2022
