Casas del Bosque Reserva Carmenere 2015

Rapel Valley, Chile

Buy Now:

A joyful expression of Chile’s darling variety, Carmenere. The richly fruited palate is full of blackcurrant, plum and black cherry with layers of green bell pepper, smoky bacon and sweet tobacco. Toasted oak shines through as dark chocolate covered roasted espresso bean. The tannins are ripe and softly integrated, giving the wine excellent structure and a lengthy finish.
Casas del Bosque is a premium boutique Chilean winery located in the region of Casablanca Valley, 60 miles north-west of the capital city Santiago. Twice awarded Chile’s Winery of the Year in the IWSC (International Wine and Spirits Competition), they are located in the cooler western side of Casablanca Valley, their most easterly vineyards reaching just 20 miles from the Pacific coastline. The direct sea influence of the Humboldt current, which carries winds from Antarctica up the length of the American continent, gives grapes an extra 10 days of hangtime in comparison to warmer vineyards further inland.
Casas del Bosque sources fruit for their Reserva Carmenere from the finest plots in Rapel Valley. Protected by the cooling ocean influences, Rapel Valley is a warm and dry region perfectly suited to ripening heat-loving red varieties.
