Carqueijal Douro Branco 2015

Douro, Portugal

Gorgeous, unoaked blend of four native Douro grapes, this 2015 is drinking beautifully now.
Entirely steel fermented and aged, accentuating white-fleshed fruit flavours like pear, melon and peach with a clean citrus snap, Pinot Grigio lovers looking for a bit more oomph will love this. The wine will continue to evolve, peaking in terms of flavour and complexity at around 3 years.
The Leite family settled in Poiares Seara, in Portugal's now renowned Douro wine and Port region, in the late 18th century, immediately planting vineyards, olive groves and almond trees, some of which survive to this day. Quinta Seara d'Ordens was derived from the military commander son, who based himself at the estate (quinta) and gave orders (ordens) to the soldiers under his command.
Over two hundred years later the estate remains in the Leite family, with João Leite Moreira the latest custodian overseeing production of high quality DOC Douro wines and continuing a long tradition of producing outstanding Ports.
