Powerful and massively expressive with intoxicating aromas of fruits of the forest, cedarwood, cloves and smoked beef short-ribs. On the palate the wine shows all of the variety's hallmarks - soft tannins, bright acidity and juicy flavours of warm plum, tangy cherry and kirsch - complete with beautifully integrated oak and melt-in-the-mouth tannins. An exceptional rosso!

Pair with pork loin chops with apples and creamy butter bean mash.

Azienda (wine farm) Bricco dei Guazzi is located in the small Piemontese village of Olivola - population: 100. The property stands on top of a hill ('bric' in the local dialect), encircled by 30 hectares of vineyards, and includes a century-old cedar tree (the company's symbol), restaurant and bustling wine resort.
Barbera, Italy's 3rd-most planted grape after Sangiovese and Montepulciano, is a fun, uncomplicated variety that's native to Piemonte. The vineyard yield has an effect on the wine's style: generous cropping results in good but simple wines that are made for everyday glugging; controlled yields give more concentrated, velvety wines that respond well to barrel maturation. Bricco de Guazzi sits somewhere in the middle!
