Vivid violet colour with exotic, high-toned scents of ripe black fruit and vanilla, followed by a generous, rich wash of blackberry, clove and brown sugar. Accessible style with silky-smooth tannins and lush, long flavours.

Gorgeous to drink on its own or with roasted lamb in a paprika and rosemary rub.

Blend and vintage: Bozeto is made from 50% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano that is fermented in wild yeasts and aged for 7 months in a combination of steel, concrete and French oak.
Bodegas Exopto (Latin: to desire) is a project founded in 2003 with the hope of recovering old bush vines cultivated on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, at over 500 metres altitude. Exopto is owned and run by Bordeaux expat Tom Puyaubert who also works as a consultant for the famous French cooperage (barrel makers) Saury.

The full, plum-cake nose and the supple and slightly sweet palate make this easy to drink, but there is some structure behind all that and the finish is well balanced and quite long. 90 points.

The fresh and fruit-driven 2016 Bozeto de Exopto is a blend of 50% Garnacha, 40% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, to provide acidity and freshness. The different grapes were aged separately for seven months, the Garnacha in concrete, some Tempranillo in oak vats and the remaining Tempranillo and Graciano in well-seasoned, neutral barriques. It's a fruit-driven, slightly grapey red, and this cuvée, with its high percentage of juicy, round and ripe Garnacha, has more of a Mediterranean character. Precise and clean. 90 points.
