Brilliant stuff that stuns with its vivid crimson hue, minty scents and silky tannins. Fine and expressive, with wonderful flavours of cedar, eucalypt, cocoa and blackcurrant all vying for supremacy. A great wine!

Decant for 2+ hours and enjoy with roast lamb, sage and prosciutto.

Beasdale's 'Iron Duke' is a blend of the estate's best parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon (100%), produced in very limited quantities. Maturation is one year in new (25%) and older French oak puncheons and hogsheads. Bottled without filtration, so may throw a sediment.
Frank Potts, an immigrant from England, founded Bleasdale in 1858, and six generations later his descendants form the second-oldest wine family in Australia (after Yalumba.) The name comes from a local Reverend, Ignatius Bleasdale, who advocated a “sober, wine-drinking community that excludes ardent spirits.” An anti-temperance priest suited Frank's ironic sense of humour, so he immortalised him in his winery. Top wine critic Robert Parker is a Bleasdale fan, noting that it “produces some of the most reliable, fairly-priced wines around."
