Appétit de France Chardonnay 2016

Languedoc & SW France, France

Buy Now:

Round and plump, with lush notes of sweet lemon, melon and apple framed by silky, palate-cleansing acidity. Lovely ripeness, richness and weight of fruit.
Chill and sup on its own or with (as per label) - salmon.
The quirky, colourful Appétit de France range is immediately striking and memorable, each label depicting an animal that makes a gorge food match for the wine in question - beef for Cabernet, pork for Merlot, lobster for Sauvignon and (here) salmon for Chardonnay.
Producer Val d’Orbieu, based in Narbonne, was founded over 40 years ago and has grown since to become one of France’s biggest and most pioneering wine groups, specialising in keenly priced, palate friendly, good-looking wines from across the Midi's balmy terroirs - although the Appétit wines carry the broader Vin de France title.
Alcohol: 12.5%
Style: Round, ripe, voluptuous
Closure: Cork
