Lustrous purple with a warm, southern nose and smooth wash of ripe plum, pepper spice and soft coffee. Easy drinking from start to finish!

Perfect on its own or with meatballs with fennel and ricotta.

Producer Schola Sarmenti is based in Salento (Italy's "heel"), a short walk from the sparkling Adriatic. It farms organically and uses the ancient Puglian vine training system, Alberello.
Negroamaro is a black variety that is most associated with Puglia in southern Italy (though some is grown in California and Australia as well). It is commonly blended, with Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano, Primitivo and Sangiovese being usual partners. The finest examples come from the Salento peninsula, Puglia, where the warm Mediterranean climate allows the drought-resistant, heat-loving grape to ripen easily.
Puglia (Apulia) is a long, thin wine region in the southeastern corner of Italy that has in recent years made the transition from producer of anonymous bulk wine to one of higher quality, bottled product. Important grapes in this hot, mostly-red area include Negroamaro, Primitivo and Syrah.
