Sommelier Challenge Platinum Award Review
I love a location-identifiable wine, and this Cabernet Sauvignon has Coonawarra written all over it. Blackberry, cassis, menthol, oak spice and a fair price, and you've got a way to show your wine friends what sense of place is all about. 94 points.
Australian Wine Companion 2017
From the Liebich (80%) and Angus Brae (20%) vineyards; matured in new and used French hogsheads. A very classy, high quality wine that manages to display its power and complexity with a fresh but compelling touch; navigating the many black and blue fruit flavours in relatively easy and very pleasurable. 96 points. To 2038.
Decanter Magazine, May 2017
Poisted ripe strawberries and bruised red fruits give a real intensity to the nose here. Pomegranate and cranberries come through on the palate, while it also shows a bit of age with a dried fruit, chocolate and raisin character. Drink 2017-2020. 92 points.
"An immaculately-crafted Cabernet, ticking each and every box ... it's far from a one-trick pony, with a swathe of hidden delights sufficient to lure even a hardened Pinot drinker to join the party."
The Wine Advocate
"Exhibits nice, sweet black cherry, strawberry and currant fruit and spicy oak, earth and spice ... Kudos to proprietor Jean-Jacques de Bethmann for upgrading the performance of this estate."
